Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Believe it or not, there’s a movie out at the theaters right now called Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter… and it’s very serious (not tongue-in-cheek) and it’s marginally good. Produced by Tim Burton, directed by Timur Bekmenatov (that’s easy for me to say) – the dude who did the two Russian Daywatch and Nightwatch movies (what?) and Wanted, starring Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman as super-assassins (what?!?).

The problem with the movie is ultimately the title is the best part of the joke… since the movie doesn’t realize it’s kind of a joke. As a kick-ass vampire movie, it’s marginally succesfull. As a satire or critique or whatever of the south, it’s a little wanting.
