Saw the new Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson action flick Faster. I think I’m alone on this, but I thought this was a brilliant, sad, sorrowful film. I’m probably wrong on this one! It shouldn’t be good, but there was just something in its tone and its themes that worked above and beyond the basic plot. For an ostensible action flick, there’s a surprising depth of emotions and variety to the characterizations (and The Rock is just a blunt weapon, a bull of a human being). This movie… this big dumb action movie… genuinely moved me.
