Insurgent

Insurgent is the second movie in the progressively inferior Divergent series of movies/books. And if that sentence suggests that I’m not going to give Insurgent this huge raving review, you would be right.

Insurgent picks up where Divergent left off – Tris and Four on the run from the evil forces of the Erudite faction (the smart people are NOT to be trusted, people!). The movie does what it can, I guess, with a so-so book but it doesn’t do itself any favors by, you know, making the movie better than the source material. In ways, it’s worse since you don’t have the internal monologue or the agony of the main character. And… well… the movie has a beginning, middle, and end and in almost none of it does it rise to the level of “stuff happening on screen”.

The funny thing is, the movie isn’t a train-wreck… it’s just really not very interesting. It takes effort to even write about it, it’s so bland.
