Went to see the new suspense domestic violence/home invasion movie No Good Deed over the weekend… starring Idis Elba as a crazy who escapes from his prison transport and proceeds to play cat and mouse with a mother alone with her two children. It would be far more creepy and disturbing if it wasn’t just kind of terrible… and then it does get uncomfortable the more it depicts a fairly believable man (not a literal monster) toying sexually with a scared woman (it doesn’t go “there” but it’s still suggestive of it in a disquieting way). This was almost one of the worst movies of the year (for being boring, not for being misogynistic) but the final 20 minutes or so finally pulled out some good suspense moments so that kind of sort of saves it from the garbage pile (by a thin hair).
