Sisters

Saw Sisters, the new Tina Fey / Amy Poehler comedy where they come home to have one last bash in their childhood home before their parents sell it. It’s daring and courageous counter-programming on Star Wars opening weekend. The film is a fine raunchy comedy about 40 somethings throwing off the shackles of kids and responsibility and having fun (and learning Important Lessons About Life).

It’s sporadically funny… it doesn’t hit often enough but I still laughed. It’s a little long but its hard to hate the two leads and some of the other characters are good too (most SNL cast and alums). John Cena is particularly funny without trying very hard. Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan, Samantha Bee, and others all manage to get some laughs.

It kind of is a slow burn before I really started laughing and I think it came from the build up. It’s mostly good.
