Wedding Ringer, The

Went to see the new comedy The Wedding Ringer starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad (Olaf’s voice from Frozen). It’s premise is that Gad is getting married to Kalie Cuoco-Sweeting but doesn’t have a best man much less any friends to fill out the groomsmen. Instead of just telling the truth, he doubles down on the random lie and hires Hart as a best man (it’s his business – being a rented best man).

And, you know, it’s not an unfunny movie. I was kind of surprised that I laughed out loud a few times and wasn’t bored throughout. Sure, some of the comedy has to go for the obligatory R-rated comedy raunchy scene (involving peanut butter and a dog) that had a good chuckle but was probably unnecessary. Sure some of the more serious moments could probably be guessed in advance and kinda slows down the movie but it’s not without heart (so to speak).

This had no right to be any good… but it was. Not great, but worth checking out. Go figure.
