Girl at the Window is yet another version of the nosy neighbor flick. In this case, a teenage girl living in an Australian town hunted by a serial killer thinks the new neighbor is that killer. Of course, nobody believes her so its up to her and her borderline derangement to solve the case.
This isn’t a boring or incompetent film but it is wildly overwrought and kind of silly. It punches hard but usually misses the mark. Multiple cases of eye rolling and plot contrivances. Thing is, with only a couple of tweaks, this becomes a parody of itself or its subgenre.
Oddly enough, I kind of liked the somewhat repetitive score.
It’s not a bad thriller if you can look past a number of unlikely and eye-rolling problems. There’s certainly better ones of these out there though.
