22 Jump Street, the obvious sequel to 21 Jump Street, stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum going undercover (again) to crack a drug ring in school (college, this time). The main hook of this comedy is that it knows it’s a sequel and does everything it can to point that out… including having the same plot with the same story beats, only more expensive because “they” threw more money at the project because more money makes it all better. I enjoyed the meta humor more than I enjoyed most of the standard jokes. I’d suggest anyone who liked the original will like this one. It’s a fairly funny film but (just like the original, in my book) goes on way too long (this one moreso, but that might have been part of the meta-joke) and I started losing my patience. And the movie sets itself for 23 Jump Street… and 24 and 25 and all the way up to 41 Jump Street (watch the credits).
