Went to see The 33, the new movie about the Chilean miners in the cave-in from 2010… and this would be a much better movie in 15 years or so because, right now, it’s only 5 years away and there’s not much mystery or suspense here because, spoilers, they all survived. The problem is, the movie thinks we don’t know that but we are too close to the events to not.
But it could still have been a good movie despite that and if it isn’t good enough in the ways that would have counteracted the lack of suspense. I’m not saying it’s a bad movie, it’s just not a success in what it’s doing. Plus it’s entirely too long even for a story about men trapped underground for 69 days.
