Saw 42… the Jackie Robinson/baseball movie. It’s a very earnest, very well-intentioned movie that mostly works well… though it does get a little corny at times. Plus, my Cincinnati friends, the audience didn’t react well when they had to play in Cincinnati and one player said he’s from Kentucky and the owner comments, “Then this is like a homecoming for you”… I was amused. That owner is played pretty well by Harrison Ford… doing a little scenery chewing but, more importantly, actually playing a character instead of, you know, Harrison Ford. Overall, a good movie that’s a little too thrilled by its own good intentions, a little too schmaltzy by its own story.
