Caught the romantic comedy / Groundhog Day riff About Time – about some weedy little British guy who can travel into his own past and fix the mistakes of his life. He uses it to steal Rachel McAdams from her new boyfriend and fixes other random, low-key average events… AND it’s over long, the leads have very little chemistry, and it’s remarkably low on humor and full of seemingly random stuff… It seemed disconnected from itself and wanders. It also breaks its own time travel rules (nerd alert!). Overall, see The Time-Traveler’s Wife is you want to see Rachel McAdams in a romantic time travel movie… it’s not great but it’s better. Scratch that, read the book instead.
Caveat: It’s possible the theater’s sound mix was off and I was only experiencing a portion of the movie. It felt too low-key like there was supposed to be more driving drama. I’m unsure. The score might go up if I saw it as a proper movie.
