All the Old Knives is a spy thriller starring Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton as intelligence officers (and former lovers) who were witness to a terrorist incident they couldn’t stop. Now, eight years later, the agency is convinced there was a mole and Pine needs to figure out who.
About the only thing I found interesting about this film was the kind of evocative title… but everything else is gloomy, staid, and boring. I suppose if you can crawl your way into being intrigued by the mystery and the story structure, you might have some fun. I did not.
The story structure is told through numerous flashbacks as we only see a little bit of the inciting terrorist incident. This is… potentially interesting but I wound up finding it needlessly convoluted. But that’s surely just because I had lost all patience for the movie already.
I really didn’t like this one. Giving it a little credit for good acting and showing us a lot of some very attractive naked bodies. I guess that was the other interesting thing about the movie.
