The Bad News Bears is a remake of the original 70s flick. Billy Bob Thornton was cast because of Bad Santa, surely, and the movie has – at least early on – a lot of the Bad Santa in it. It’s a strong strong PG-13… lots of cussing and morally gray (and black) life-lessons from Billy Bob.

Only problem with the movie is that it really runs for too long and loses most of its edginess about half way through. Most of the great cussing and bad moralizing ends when the team starts to play well. Then it kind of turns into your average baseball film – little league but still baseball. I did like the ending though – it all comes down to the big game and it plays different from what I expected. Though, honestly, I can’t remember how the original film ended so maybe its the same thing.
