This Shudder original is just a bad, bland, tedious film. I could almost end my review there since I feel so little about this flick. But I’ll try… which is more than I can say about much of this film.
The movie is set in an old WWII bunker built by the fascists in Italy. It’s now being used for alternate history Nazi cosplay/LARPing. After almost a full half hour of pretending they are the surviving members of the Fourth Reich, the LARP ends and the workers remain in the bunker… only to get locked in and tormented by whatever cryptic persons or evil forces they picked for the flick.
This movie spends these thirty minutes on its dumb LARP concept, only breaking the act on a few occasions. So we get a long, dull, boring, pointless full third of the movie that has nothing to do with whatever the rest of the movie is going to do. Such a pointless waste of time.
And the rest of the movie spends two or three times longer than absolutely necessary to do anything. Investigating a long hallway? Take it slow. Checking out some old abandoned equipment? Take your time. Do everything you can to drive the viewer’s interest into the dust and then tap dance in a very bored fashion on the remnants.
There’s simply nothing scary or interesting going on in this film. I suppose some of the music is good, if a little overwrought. And there’s a mystery that, I dunno, might keep you guessing.
SO boring, SO dull, SO repetitious, SO whatever they decide to make this movie. It’s clear they had a bunker set and flailed about until they got 90 minutes of screen time and called it a horror show. Stay far away from this boring drivel.
