Christmas of Yes

I swear this movie exists… though I also swear you shouldn’t try to prove it. But it popped up on (HBO) Max a couple weeks ago and I watched about half of it, groaning the whole way. When I checked LB’s rating, it was barely being watched much less reviewed. How could a Christmas movie on (HBO) Max have viewership on the level of an obscure indie hitting paid rental streaming?

Well, I did my due diligence and finished it off this morning… and happy day, it has more views and reviews. Still have Twilight Zone levels of doubts that it’s real.

The flick is a very generic Christmas rom-com that I’m pretty sure was made for commercial TV (given its boring flat looks and fades to and from commercial). It’s about a business woman who promises her brother she’ll say YES to everything over Christmas. Which means she goes out at times she doesn’t want to and says YES to a cute guy, etc.

And meh to all of it. It’s sub-exactly-what-you-expect for a quickie holiday movie. Its boring, unfunny, and flat. I guess the two leads have some charm to them but their plots and subplots are predictable and boring with the expected final act breakup, etc.

Meh.
