Evil Dead remake is hard-core gore all the way… either that sells you or it doesn’t. Surprisingly good – and dead serious – horror splatfest… this is no sequel to the hilarious and hallucinogenic Evil Dead 2 or Army of Darkness (it’s more like a big budget remake of the fairly serious – if exceedingly low-budget – original). It’s a Cabin in the Woods movie and, as such, doesn’t have a lot of originality… but it did have some interesting twists… and perhaps the best use of a chainsaw since Texas Chainsaw movies and… Evil Dead 2. Or maybe Dead Snow (nazi zombies had it coming!).
