How to Rob a Bank is basically just another Netflix true crime documentary. Nothing special in its production. It’s a little interesting in terms of its subject matter… a crafty man and his accomplices take to robbing banks in the booming Seattle economy.
All the usual interviews with FBI investigators and former accomplices are shown. Some of these are better than others. None of them remarkable. Most of the illustrations of how event played out are literally illustrations – so-so paintings of events. I guess that’s different from the usual re-enactments.
The actual crimes, the lifestyle of the mastermind, and how he laundered the stolen cash have some unique qualities that might make it worth checking out.
It’s not a bad doc but hardly one to move the needle as far as all these true crimes docs go. I hoped it’d be a little crazier or informative… but it’s serviceable enough.
