Into the Storm is a 2014 spiritual reboot of Twister… it even has a flying (fake) cow to let you know the people who made the flick knew what movie they are making. But, surprise, the trailers were lies – this is a found footage film (even some of the shots from the trailer now have time codes on them). It’s not a very good found footage film though and really strains to keep the cameras going… except when it gives up the found footage gimmick randomly (leaving me wonder where the camera is in this scene which really takes you out of the flick). Other big problem – the people in the movie are not interesting and they tend to bring the movie to a thundering stop when we are asked to care for their drama. The movie is about special FX and twisters and destruction and it looks really good. But unfortunately the first hour of storms weren’t that thrilling… though the final storm was actually pretty exciting. But not exciting enough to recommend this schizophrenic film.
