Netflix’s The Life List is a perfectly pleasant drama/comedy/romance. And that’s good in that it’s fine… it’s perfectly fine. But it’s bad in that it’s perfectly fine for just shy of two hours. That’s a solid thirty minutes longer than it needed to be while never exceeding expectations.
It’s about a mother played by Connie Briton who dies and gives her daughter a Life List (don’t call it a Bucket List!) of things she’d written down as a child. If she can complete all the items on the list, she’ll get a secret inheritance.
And… it kind of achieves what it sets out to do without a single surprise. It’s just a little too long in doing it… but I guess I could argue the two hour runtime at least produced a complete storyline and character. Not one that I’m doing celebratory shouts over, but… pleasant enough to watch while occasionally checking email or what’s up on YouTube.
Sofia Carson plays the lead and she’s perfectly pleasant. I could have spent two hours with a less likable actress so her winning smile basically makes the movie watchable.
And… yeah… that about says it all. It’s not a winner but you could do worse with a two hour runtime on any number of lesser Netflix originals. This one is good enough. It’s fine.
