One More Time is a combo time loop and “relive your youth” timey wimey wibbly wobbly movie. A 40 year old woman is hit by a truck and wakes up on her 18th birthday and continues to relive the day over and over again. The movie directly references both Groundhog Day and Peggy Sue Got Married… not that they did this flick much good.
This is a pretty sluggish and unfunny film that plods along, repeating the same day in very boring and unoriginal ways. Given that the frame story (of her at 40 at the beginning and end) actually has an emotional beating heart is the only reason this movie has any life to it at all.
The time loop takes place in 2002 so the film has some mild fun with pop references and needle drops of the time. Even though it’s a Swedish film, most of these references are fine for folks who didn’t grow up in that country. Not sure if that says something about the dominance of Hot in Herre or the shortcuts the filmmakers did to make sure the film worked internationally though.
Yeah, didn’t care for this time loop flick. It did nothing for me and seemed to go on forever when its barely an hour and twenty minutes long. I suppose if all you want out of a teen comedy time loop is a LOT of early 2000s nostalgia references, it might satisfy.
