Since I’m a ten year old British child, I decided to check out the Paddington movie and it’s all right. It’s charming and cute and above all harmless… and not at all the pratfall bathroom humor from the original trailer. Now, I’m clearly not a ten year old British child so I only have a passing familiarity with Paddington as a thing in pop culture so I came into the movie for what it was, not what it was doing or how it was being in comparison. So, yeah, it’s a good movie for the family and can amuse adults with some clever jokes the kids might not get… Nicole Kidman is an evil taxidermist (?!) and Peter Capaldi is a grouchy neighbor (both of whom I was surprised to see). I really don’t have much else to say other than, yeah, if there’s any part of you that’s interested or if you have kids, this is a really sweet and gentle flick that won’t require much, if any, awkward conversations over content.
