Netflix has a new “movie” called Parallels… a sci-fi flick about a building that sends its occupants (four attractive 20 somethings) to alternate earths/realities. Is a high concept with limited scope as far as this movie goes… they jump (or, ahem, slide) to all of two alternate Earths and then the movie ends on a “where will we go next?”. Because, surprise to me, this was a pilot to a tv series that wound up not getting made and instead was turned into a movie for Netflix. It’s not bad but the fact that it’s the first 80 minutes of something intended to be vastly longer means they spend too much time moping around and getting captured to actually tell a complete story. But, hey, if they do wind up picking it up to series, it might be worth a watch. I mean, maybe it’s time to reboot Sliders?
