Also caught the Matt Damon eco flick Promised Land on Netflix… a movie about the evils of frakking (hydraulic fracturing – oil drilling by breaking up deposits by forcing water and other chemicals into the ground). It’s very much anti-frakking movie and I think the issue itself is too politicized to trust Sides… but I can’t argue that it’s not a damn good movie and ultimately not as preachy as it was made out to be (which wouldn’t have mattered if the movie was good on its own… which it was). It even offered some surprises that I certainly didn’t see coming. Also stars John Krazinski, Hal Holbrook, and Frances McDormand. Just good drama.
