I caught the film Rec 4 – the fourth in the Spanish and Spanish-language zombie horror flicks (the first of which was remade in the US as Quarantine). I’m actually surprised to say that I rather liked this new film… it was certainly trying harder than the last one. Also surprising, the movie brings back the female reporter from the first movie… also much appreciated, as with Rec 3, they dropped the found footage angle. This is a traditionally filmed horror flick. It’s set on a quarantine ship out at sea and, wouldn’t you know it, but the outbreak of rage fever, zombie-itus, or spiritual possession (whatever is going on!) runs rampant on the ship and much chaos and blood ensue. If you’ve been following the series (or even the US remake), this is a decent flick. Certainly better than Recs 2 and 3.

I caught it on Apple TV/iTunes – it’s supposedly at the theaters too but no doubt a very limited release.
