That Awkward Moment is an unfunny, crass dude-bro romantic comedy about three good actors playing 20somethings on the prowl (and sleeping with a confounding number of women) in NYC. They have made a commitment with each other to have no commitments… and, of course, they can’t avoid falling in love. There’s a dark, crippled heart of genuine sweetness in this otherwise aggressively unfunny, predictable, and so-very-desperate to be R rated movie. I like the actors (even Zack Ephron – but Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller are good actors) and the female lead’s eyes are worth swimming in… and that’s the only reason this flick isn’t an even bigger disaster. Thank god January is over… maybe the movies will start getting better in February… maybe?
