Rented an eerie little Norwegian-language movie called Thelma on iTunes the other night. It’s about a sheltered Christian girl who goes to university in Oslo where she starts having seizures. Could these seizures be the work of the devil, a figment of her own confused mind, a result of having her beliefs challenged, witches, nature gone haywire, or something else?
It’s a decent little creepy movie that suffers a few too many “it was only a dream” moments and a slightly too ambiguous ending that doesn’t really explain certain events. It’s good and well acted though and there are some genuinely eerie moments and striking visuals (especially the opening one on a frigid Norwegian lake).
It’s overall a good but not great suspense movie. Maybe worth a look if you like slow burn suspense films that may leave you with questions.
