Caught the new direct-to-streaming (via iTunes) Australian disaster end-of-the-world drama These Final Hours… kind of like what you’d get if you crossed On the Beach with a rave full of naked women. It’s about an asteroid strike that occurs on the other side of the world from Australia and picks up in the city of Perth where word has gotten out that the firestorm from the impact will reach shore in 12 hours. So people react with violence, with desperation, suicide,religion, and partying. Our hero just wants to go to the end of the world party with his girlfriend but he winds up rescuing a 12 year old girl who is separated from her father. He decided to help her out instead of raving to the end.
