Checked out the rather tepid retelling of Frankenstein… Victor Frankenstein which is confusingly titled since it’s retold from Igor’s point-of-view. But that’s not the only tepid crime the movie makes… mainly it’s … just kind of a movie I saw that kind of retold the same old story. It does it with a weird self-referential humor (the writer of this movie has clearly seen a number of past Frankenstein movies) and the monsters (especially the first one) are pretty disgusting in a way that’s slightly different.

Daniel Radcliffe plays Igor… a medical genius hunchback circus clown (why not?) and James McAvoy is Victor Frankenstein as insane genius egomaniac d-bag. I can say this much for the movie – it has more acting in it that is strictly necessary… it’s quite possible their budget went to patching up the set after the actors get down chewing on it.

No real reason to see this movie unless you just want a kind of nutty but unnecessary remake. Does it go where you think it’s going? Yup. Does it get there in a slightly deranged way? Sure.
