Wedding Season is largely that same romcom you’ve seen before… but it’s a good one of those and it’s on Netflix. Charming couple, good side characters, and reasonably romantic and moderately funny.
The flick is about an Indian-American career woman whose parents and aunties continue to try to get her married. She has a bad arranged date with an Indian guy and they decide to pretend to date to get the aunties (and parents) off their backs.
You’ve seen a lot of this movie before so it’s good news this flick works. It’s an American film about fully Americanized second generation kids and their more traditional (but not too traditional) parents. So there’s a little extra to the film peppered in as well. Had me some Ms. Marvel flashbacks, beta.
It probably has the usual late film breakup and the usual reconciliation. You’ve seen this movie before. It’s charming… but a little long and not exactly hilarious. But it’s sweet and serviceable and if you love love love romcoms, it’s exactly the movie you should watch.
