Wolfs? Wolves? <deep breath> Ok… I won’t get pedantic.
Anyhow, Wolves is a sassy cool lark for “they can do this in their sleep” cool guys Brad Pitt and George Clooney. They just had to show up and hope their script could rise to their casual cool guy level… and, for the most part, it does.
It’s about a woman who has to call in a cleaner when something goes wrong with her hotel hookup. Clooney is her fixer for the evening… until Pitt’s fixer shows up too. Clearly these two lone wolfs don’t need a partner…
I dig this film’s cool guy casual vibe… like I said, thet can do this in their sleep. But they don’t phone it in… their annoyance and aggravation at each other’s competence is a lot of fun. They aren’t taking it too seriously and it plays well.
For awhile anyway. Eventually the long night of annoyance starts to run out of steam. Right at about the time the guns come out, it felt like the flick should be wrapping up. But it goes on for two or three too many endings… including one that I said couldn’t draw itself out and it didn’t. Cut to credits at just the right moment.
Wouldn’t mind seeing the two wise guy characters again played by these two buddies/jokers. It’s not a great film but it’s cool and its fun and that’s what everyone signed up for.
