Becky was a solid streaming revenge flick about a fourteen year old girl fending off a bunch of Neo Nazis. It was a pretty bloody entertaining B picture. I certainly didn’t expect a sequel, much less one released to theaters. But here we are.
The Wrath of Becky finds Becky evading the foster care system when she runs afoul of a group of white nationalists. They steal her dog so now she’s out for revenge. Blood disgusting revenge.
This film lacks the energy and creativity of the original, though it retains much of the carnage. It feels mechanical though, manufactured… like they know what an entertaining B picture should feel like and tried too hard to build one. Some of the kills have a little visceral fun, but too much of it felt manufactured. All the elements are here but the bloody good time was lacking.
And they set themselves up for an eyebrow raising sequel scenario that I found unconvincing. I’m happy if the lead Lulu Wilson gets another shot at this since there’s something to her.
I was disappointed by this B movie. Maybe I’m being too critical… I honestly hope so. I hope it finds its audience and that I’m just being cranky.
