Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is an amusing zombie comedy that would have been funnier if they cut the “Zom 100” bit from the title. Just lean into the genre conventions and call it Bucket List of the Dead. It’d have been funnier and fit perfectly on the shelf with other “Of the Dead” zombie flicks, both serious and otherwise…
The flick is about a guy with a corporate job he hates when the standard issue zombie apocalypse hits. Realizing he doesn’t have to go to work that day, he writes up a bucket list to complete before he gets turned into a zombie.
This zombie movie isn’t remotely interested in being a horror flick. It’s a casual lark of an apocalypse comedy without a serious moment in its fuzzy little brain. Which, hey, fair enough when it mostly passes the humor test. Not as hilarious as it wants to be… but good enough.
Probably could have gotten away with NOT being two+ hours though. But I guess the final hour with an amusingly campy aquarium-based zombie suggests they were building up to something nutty. Probably some bits they could have sliced off to keep the pacing up though.
This movie is basically a decent enough zombie comedy. It never really achieves anything great and the laughs were scattered and casual. It mostly worked.
