Allegoria

I… umm… you see… well… hmmm… Allegoria is a horror movie on Shudder. Definitely. It’s definitely a horror movie on Shudder. Definitely. This is a definite statement.

It’s about… hmmm… it’s an anthology of short films… Maybe? Or… hmmm… it’s a series of vignettes with a horror theme? Or maybe short dialogs between characters with a vague interconnection? Yah…

Maybe it’s all just an allegory. Hey!

I guess I liked bits and pieces of this film but I spent the majority of time trying to figure out what it’s about. I think the closest I can come is that it’s about the art of horror in multiple forms. Punk rock, plays, scripts, cheesy slasher films, and monologs. A given vignette might reference the other vignettes and the final two or three follow the same two women over a single night. I think.

There’s a couple striking moments throughout but I don’t know if they glue together well. This is probably my inability to make the connective link required to really “get” it.

And it’s possible there’s nothing to get. Or the director had his head up his own butt… which would be ironic since there’s a character who accuses another of Philosophy 101 stoner rambling.

Hey, is that what this movie’s about?

I dunno. It’s a movie where things happen and sometimes they are creepy or weird (and maybe even funny). I can’t say I hate it.
