Book of Eli, The

If we’re talking borrowing from other post apocalyptic franchises, Book of Eli is more Fallout than Road Warrior – it’s about scrounging out a life, looting, searching, surviving – encounters with waste wanderers and small craphole towns trying to create a community – and payments with BOTTLE CAPS! Har. Just kidding. Payments are barter – and KFC handy-wipes are worth their weight in… recharged electronics.

It’s a good and very good looking, very bleak movie that only occasionally does something that just doesn’t make sense for their situation. There aren’t any mutants (super or otherwise) and no ghouls – but there are cannibals who you can identify by their shaky fingers (since, presumably, they’ve been eating brains and brain eating can give you kuru (a neuro-degenerative disease caused by cannibalism)).

The action and storyline are good but I especially liked the twist ending… in that it has a thoughtful and intellectual conclusion. Very rare in this genre and I liked it.

So worth seeing. I recommends it.
