Cold Meat

A pretty solid first act, a less good and disappointing everything else. This thriller starts with a cool character and a bit of driving in a blizzard suspense… throws in a surprise… and then struggles to fill the rest of the time.

Its about a couple of people stuck in car that goes off the road in a snow storm. It’s one of those isolation survival single location films… and like a number of them, it struggles to fill the time. It also opens with a narration that hints at the presence of a wendigo… but the vast majority of the flick is just a couple of people freezing to death in a car.

Like many of these problematic single location survival movies, I couldn’t help try to outthink the writers. And as a person who has been off the road in the snow, they didn’t even try to get themselves free. There’s also a method of survival between the two characters that I would have gone with… but saying more would be spoilers.

Since the acting is good and the first act is solid, I’ll give it a problematic but okish rating. It could have been very good but struggles to generate solid, ongoing suspense.
