I did NOT laugh fairly often at this scathing, brutal faux-documentary about the 2021 that we all know and hate. Hosted by an interesting list of actors playing fake talking heads, it takes a brutal, direct, and perhaps one-sided assault on the news events of the year. The film gives us Hugh Grant, Joe Keery, Lucy Liu, Tracey Ulman, Stockard Channing, and some other folk.

The above is a slightly tweaked review from my Death to 2020 review. While I thought 2020 was consistently funny, this one simply wasn’t. I think I laughed once (at a Superman II joke) and mildly smiled a few more times. And it’s not like there isn’t even more to snark at in 2021… plenty of room but either the writing wasn’t as sharp and biting or maybe most of it was just too on-the-nose. Or, hey, maybe… just maybe… it’s hard to clown a clown.
