Gone Girl

The new David Fincher directed movie Gone Girl is a really slick, really twisty, really clever suspense film. It had me guessing every step of the way and I was often wrong. It’s almost impossible to talk about without revealing things so all I will say is that it stars Ben Affleck as a husband whose wife (played by Rosamund Pike) has gone missing and the suspicious circumstances that are uncovered during the investigation. Did Affleck’s character kill his wife? The media has decided he did in some great scenes that are a direct attack on the awful Nancy Grace (I’d love to watch her watch this film). Ben Affleck is really good here and Rosamund Pike is amazing… while Affleck does play it smart, he’s kind of always Affleck… but Rosamund Pike just kills it (so to speak).

I highly recommend this film.

It’s based on a very popular recent book which I have not read – the screenplay was written by the author and apparently has a slight deviation from the source material at the end. If it does, I’m fascinated to find out what the original ending was since this wasn’t an expected Hollywood ending in the least.

Excellent flick. Go see it. Don’t take the kids.
