I Blame Society is listed as horror and comedy and it’s available on Shudder… but I was doubtful of those horror creds when the movie started. But, as it went on, it earned the label in interesting ways.
The film is about a filmmaker just starting out in the business. She looks around for a good subject to film and hits on the idea that she might make a good murderer. This intrigues her because she’s been told she can do anything she sets her mind to… and perhaps because all the people she tells don’t take her seriously. They probably should have.
I low-key enjoyed this film for its off-kilter sociopathic lead. She does a very good job of satirizing herself while also just being a sunshiney creep. I enjoyed the angle this film took… and I laughed or chuckled a decent number of times while my eyes popped out at her absurd audacity.
Not the best film but a pretty solid bit of dark humor and wannabe celebrity satire. If’s fun, dark, and sometimes uncomfortable.
