Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight is a new Netflix Original / Polish horror film about a bunch of tech-addicted teens who are forced to spend time in the great outdoors. And, by great outdoors, we mean the mutant-Bubba-infested woods. So what starts out as a miserable trek through nature becomes that old chestnut of how city folk should probably just stay out of the wilderness. What with all the mutant atomic zombies, cultists, cannibals, witches, etc.

But, yeah, this time its mutant hillbillies proving that Appalachia and the American Southwest ain’t got dibs on their kinds. Nor does it have dibs on sadly mediocre movies. Nobody Sleeps In the Woods Tonight is a well-intentioned film with a likable cast but nothing original or unique to say in its genre. I kept waiting for something really interesting to flair up but it just never did. It kept on keeping on with the quips to prove the screenwriters have seen all the scary and sci-fi movies without really brining anything new to the table.

Wish I could say I enjoyed it more. It’s not the worst thing ever put to screen, but there’s plenty of reason to watch something else.
