Perfect Addiction

The Perfect Addiction is another one of THOSE hated modern romance flicks. It’s about an MMA trainer (of course) who is dating her current client when she catches him cheating on her. So she finds another fighter to train to beat him (who she surely doesn’t fall in love with… absolutely not! What kind of movie do you think this is?)

Yup… a bundle of wish fulfilment like a lot of these pics. Two handsome, ripped fighters vying for her affections? AND she’s an ass-kicking fighter in her own right? Yeah… all the elements for a big dollop of cheese, of corn, of campy cringe nonsense.

Pretty confident I was supposed to hate it. Bundle it together with other cringe romances like 365 Days or After. And, sure, it shares some very familiar DNA. Maybe it’s one too many hits with the snake but I found it well-produced, well-acted, and reasonably engaging. I liked the two leads and hated the cheatin’, lyin’ ex… and I kind of liked the serious focus on MMA as a sport (even if half the movie is about the hush hush world of illegal underground fights… as you do).

I wouldn’t tell a soul to watch it unless they were a fool for romances… but mainly that’s just because so many people hate, hate, hate the flick so I’m either wrong, a chump, or suddenly a fool for romances myself. Or maybe it’s a case of dog-piling?

But I liked it. It was engaging and the leads were attractive and worked well together. If nothing else, it does a ground pound on the 365 Days and After franchises.
