So Vam is an LGBTQ vampire flick about vamps who feed exclusively on bullies and bigots. A teen gets turned and has to content with the local assholes, find a new boyfriend, and become his true drag queen self.
This is clearly a micro-budget production using actors of questionable talent. It has terribly clunky editing, bad action, even worse attempts at “cool”, and all sorts of really mean things I could keep saying about it but it starts to feel like punching down (from an amateur writing reviews on Letterboxd).
I really wanted to give this flick a little extra credit for heart and instinct… but the longer it went, the more I couldn’t look past the basic film making incompetence. It’s possible to work magic with a frightfully limited budget, but this movie is not such an example.
I wanted to be nice and give it a single star but when I think I gave a star to Morbius and this is far below that, I have to stick with a half star. Maybe with more experience and a budget, this director can eventually achieve something.
Until then, there’s nothing to see here. Move along.
