T3 is the difference between a great director and an OK director. A good script and a weak script. Great cinemicrography and ok cinematography. In other words, it’s ok. Its disappointing but not unexpectedly so. Lots of things explode a lot.
The biggest problem – besides the lack of the very physicality of Cameron’s direction – is the script which just needed a few small lines to justify the movies existence… or specific events in the movie but couldn’t pull them off.
And the terminatrix (the female terminator bad guy) is not a good villain… main problem is with the script though – why does she exist? How different is she than the T1000 liquid metal guy in T2? She seems less powerful… but why is she less powerful? It could have been explained in the script and how this movie relates to the previous movie… but they opted out of even minimal explanations for more explosions.
The end… hmmm… Courageous and smart (though there is scripting problems there too). It doesn’t exactly live up to what the trailers promise… yet it does in a different way. If that’s vague enough for you. Regardless, it’s a daring (and surprising) move that suggests they won’t have to repeat the same premise in a T4.
Anyhow… its not like its not worth seeing. Decent enough action scenes and might shine a little brighter if it wasn’t for how great the first two movies were.
