Timetrap

Also rented (via iTunes) a sci-fi flick called Timetrap (aka Time Trap). A mind-bendy low budget, high ambition time travel type movie. Not exactly an A list movie but also not quite a B flick either.

The film is largely set in a cave (which keeps the budget down) which is stuck in a time bubble of sorts. Time moves slower in the cave than in the outside world. Our heroes venture into the cave to find their missing professor and quickly realize that years are passing outside the cave while they are trapped inside it. They encounter various other peoples (and time bubbles) that have been down there for centuries themselves. And something bad has happened to the Earth in the few cases where they are able to climb out.

The ideas in this film are big while the budget is small. The acting is generally pretty good, except for some literal ooga-booga cavemen they are trapped with (these guys are an embarrassment and make Land of the Lost look sophisticated). But I forgive them a lot of their limitations given their obvious budget. They are going for something big while limited and that’s cool since most of it works.

If you like a good time-warping sci-fi flick and don’t mind a lower budget, this one is worth checking out. It goes to places I didn’t expect and that’s always a nice surprise.
