Love is in the Air

In analyzing this latest Netflix rom-com, I asked myself “Good cliché or bad cliché” and then “Good generic or bad generic”. And then I got introspective… “was I feeling like a chump or a cynic?” But I think the most important question of all was simpler… “Was I bored or was I bored out of my mind?”

And the answer was the former on all counts.

Love is in the Air is about a tiny air carrier down under that services isolated islands. The daughter of the owner is the main pilot when a corporate goon from England arrives to shut the place down. But he starts to fall for her before The Big Secret can be revealed.

And… yes… it’s pretty. Must have been grueling for these actors to spend all the long days in the sun, on the beach, in the air. I’m sure they had a blast and got that Netflix money.

Me? I was bored by the generic cliches and feeling pretty cynical while ultimately just being bored. Yeah, you’ve seen it all before but there’s plenty of these types of movies you’ve seen before. Some of them are good, some of them are watchable, and some of them are just too blah to loath. I didn’t loathe the movie, I was just bored and indifferent to every second of it.

I’d stay away, but I’m maybe just a grinchy grouchy grumbler. Maybe it’s charming… but I wasn’t feeling it.
