Meet the Blacks

What inspired me to see Suicide Squad on the early Thursday 9pm Imax 3D $16 screen was me renting the god-awful garbage fire of a movie Meet the Blacks tonight. This turkey even got a theatrical release but not near enough to me to notice and not advertised to me to even look for it. This is a spoof similar to 50 Shades of Black. In this case, you might be thinking this is the “black Meet the Parents” but no, that would make too much sense. This is the “black The Purge” for some ungodly weird reason. It spoofs The Purge… the original home invasion film from four years ago. I remind you, this came out earlier this year. This movie is such garbage, I’m not even going to create a second paragraph to this “review”. Premise – black guy moves his family from Chicago to Beverly Hills after stealing a bunch of money from a client who went to jail. He thinks The Purge doesn’t happen in wealthy gated communities but, wouldn’t you know it, it does. Because The Purge is a think that happens… not a Purge-like thing, but the Purge itself. Part of this movie thinks its a serious home invasion horror movie (with fart jokes and a son who thinks he’s Dracula) and the other, I think, is a comedy. But it’s such a bad comedy… I mean, movies like 50 Shades of Black or some of the later Scary Movies have massively over-the-top stereotypical black comedy but, it occurs to me now, even if that all seems vaguely racist, at least those guys are trying. This movie didn’t even go that far. Garbage. Fire. Moving on.
