To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Based on some recommendations I read, I checked out the new Netflix shows To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Lot of buzz about this flick and I can kind of partly sort of see why. It’s cute and sweet and somewhat funny.

The film stars nobody I recognize and John Corbett as the dad of three Asian American girls (I guess the mom is dead, not sure if they mentioned her or not). The middle child – in high school – has trouble connecting with guys so, when she has a crush, she writes all her thoughts and feelings into letters, addressed and with proper postage, that she hides away in her closet. Her younger sister, thinking she’s helping her basket case sister, finds them and mails them. Hilarity and embarrassment ensues.

I found the movie low-key cute and fun. It’s not going to change my work – or probably anyone’s – but it was worth watching. It’s harmless and pretty bright and sunny so it can be recommended for days when you can’t handle dark and mean-spirited fair.
