Dreamland

Have been racking my brain and I just don’t have a lot to say about this movie. It’s kind of drab, kind of dull… and that’s largely it.

Set during the Depression, it’s about a poor family whose son encounters a female bank robber on the run from the cops. They fall in love, or maybe he does and she takes him up on the opportunity. They might make a run for Mexico (spoilers).

I found the movie and its romance fairly unconvincing and Margot Robbie (as the crook) does very little to help. The guy they cast to play the boy… I just couldn’t figure out how old he’s supposed to be since he looks like he’s in his mid 20s but gets treated like he’s a teenager. Hollywood casting old to play a teen ain’t new… but it was really confounding and unconvincing here.

And that’s it. A rather dull flick that picks up a hair in the final act but it’s really too late to care. A kind of blah movie.
