Mandela Effect, The

When there’s more entertainment valley gotten from watching an endless train of Top Ten Mandela Effect videos on YouTube than this turgid sf flick, then that’s a real problem. Going down that web video rabbit hole at least provides quicker entertainment and a little game of “what DO I remember?” whereas this just makes you slog through too many minutes of a guy freaking out and questioning the nature of reality.

And, well, it’s also more of an examination of alternate universes and simulation theory… though it never figures out where it wants to really land. And it does that in a less entertaining way than old show like Sliders or an episode of Rick & Morty.

The film is clearly low ambition and low budget so we don’t even get more interesting “changes” than Berenstain Bears and Curious George with a tale. There’s a lot of interesting ways to go if you really want to follow this rabbit hole in a more interesting science fiction angle. Too bad all they really wanted to do was show off they watched some YouTube videos, some Ted Talks, and took real scientists out of context.
