Royal Treatment, The

I wonder which we’ll run out of first: devilishly handsome or beautiful unmarried royals of fictional European countries or average American hair dresses, bakers, artists, or schoolteachers who love them? Some day I want the movie about the fictional prince or princess who gets ditched for all these roving American boyfriend or girlfriend thieves.

You’ve seen (or avoided) this one before… this time it’s a regular American hairdresser who falls for a prince. The handsome prince doesn’t love his intended and, of course, falls for the lead. Will these two craz… oh nevermind. Of course they will.

Of these types of movies, this is not the worst. It’s not the best… it’s super generic and super predictable. I suppose the two leads are nice ‘n pretty themselves… she’s bold and brash and tells it to him straight which nobody ever does. So he falls for her because she’s not like other girls. Of course.

Someday someone will notice that Americans should aspire to be presidents, not kings and queens. But I think that’s a pointless snark at a by-the-book industry. I shake my tiny fist at the Gods of Hollywood.

I’m sure there’s a target market for this flick… but even they should demand better. But if you do watch it, you aren’t seeing the most tedious of these romcoms, at least.
