Wretched, The

Rented a new horror flick (on iTunes) called The Wretched. Had a decent cover art and around 78% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes so that seemed worth giving a shot. And I’d say that RT score is about accurate.

The film is about a teenage boy who gets into trouble at home so moves in with his dad who lives out in the sticks. He gets into scrapes with the local cool kids, meets a cute girl, and spies aggressively on his neighbors. Neighbors who, as it turns out, are being stalked by some kind of evil forest spirit who looks like a naked woman who could really use a bath. And maybe took decorating advice from the Blair Witch (very twiggy). But, of course, nobody believes the kid when the neighbors start to vanish… including the neighbors.

No, this isn’t a bad little horror movie. It has a good look and the creature and makeup effects are generally pretty good. There’s some filler content and the movie does kind of bog down… the flick would have been better served being a little bit shorter. But not a bad effort if you’re looking for a “pretty good” little horror film.
